The work of Denis Monfleur, sculptor for 25 years, has been characterized by its subject, its technique and its material. It is by direct cutting, which makes each intervention on the block an irremediable act, that the 44 year old sculptor has managed to specify his language, binding the extreme hardness of the stone to the flexibility necessary for the human form.
The evolutions in style have widened his creativity , parallel with technical discoveries in perpetual change, make that the work of the sculptor is carried out in an increasingly broad range. Thus Monfleur has a large pallet of representations of the human body, busts and monumental figures, firmly anchored on the ground, to the works suspended with steel ropes, as well as miniatures, the whole time preserving a great coherence.
The inalterability of the granite makes it possible for Denis Monfleur to place a majority of his works outside in parks or gardens, in more urban situations, but also in the forests of Alsace or on the slopes of Vesuvius where works of several tons are on permanent exhibition.
